The bodies of four children, who went missing from Sundratiki village situated in Habiganj’s Bahubal upazila, were found in Kamaichhara village on 17 February 2016. Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) strongly condemns the brutal murder of these children.
According to media reports, the four children went missing on 12 February 2016 evening and guardian of one of them filed a general diary with Bahubal Police Station on the following day.
Ain o Salish Kendra expresses grave concern over the continued incidents of torture of children took places in different parts of the country recently, including the aforementioned one. We think that the ratio of these torture incidents and inhuman treatment towards children is a matter of serious concern. Such brutal treatment towards children reflects the picture- how helpless children are in the society.
We also think that child oppressors should be subject to trial and exemplary punishment in every incident of child abuse as a matter of urgency.
We urge the government and also law enforcement agencies to take more cautious and effective measures for preventing the recurrence of these violent incidents against children.
We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of the four deceased children. We strongly demand that the perpetrators be caught and subjected to exemplary punishment immediately.
