ASK’s concern over Banshkhali casualties in police firing

Ain o Salish Kendra is expressing grave concern as well as condemning the casualties during a clash that broke out between police and villagers over setting up a power plant in Chittagong’s Banshkhali.

According to media reports, police imposed Section 144 as two groups of villagers favouring and opposing the installation of the plant called rallies at the same venue. But law enforcers opened fire as villagers defied Section 144 and held the rallies. It has been reported by the media that at least four people died in police firing but villagers claimed that the number was six.

We harshly condemn the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials and also demand that a judicial investigation into the incident be carried out.
