Two Teenagers Died During Clashes Between Two Awami League Factions: Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK)’s Deep Condolence and Grave Condemnation

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is expressing grief and deep condemnation over the incident of death of two young men, as they were hit by a pick-up during the clash between two Awami League fractions.

According to media reports, on 10 November 2018 when clashes broke out between two groups of supporters seeking nomination from Awami League, two young men, named Sujon and Arif Hossain, hurriedly jumped out of a pick-up van. The pick-up then hit them badly as the driver started to hastily drive the vehicle again. Both of them died after they were taken to the hospital.

ASK is expressing grave grief over the incident. Besides, ASK demands strict punishment of those who took part in the clashes with weapons like hammer, sharp weapons and pieces of bricks. The Prime Minister has already ordered to submit investigation report within two days. We hope that according to the Prime Minister’s orders, a fair investigation to identify the culprits and provide exemplary punishment to those responsible will be ensured. Keeping the 11th National Parliamentary Elections in mind, various political activities will be carried out in the next one month. We demand the political parties to avoid all types of clashes and give stern directions to their supporters against using children and adolescents in any of their activities.
