Since January 2019, the Child Rights Unit of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) has been implementing a project with the financial support of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) for the Protection of Working Children. Through the two Child Labourer Friendly Spaces (CLFS) at Mohammadpur and Sabujbagh areas of Dhaka, it has been providing a number of services including education, health and psychosocial support and legal protection to working children. Besides, it is implementing its project through various different activities including employers’ meeting, tea stall meeting, networking meeting, meeting with local representatives, etc.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021, ASK organised drawing competitions and discussion meetings at the two CLFS. A total of 23 girls and 10 boys participated in the drawing competition. Awards were distributed among the winners of the drawing competition. Later, a discussion meeting was held with the participants and guardians. Besides the participants, 4 men and 17 women attended the meeting. During the meeting, the context and significance of International Women’s Day, the theme of 2021, women’s rights, and other relevant issues were discussed. Moreover, the Sabujbagh CLFS handed out certificates to the children and parents who underwent technical training on computer skills and acupressure skills in 2019. On this day, 7 children and 8 parents were given certificates.
